Japanese Keratin hair treatment is also known as thermal reconditioning or Yuko*. It’s a very safe and natural way of straightening your hair without the need for heat or potentially dangerous chemicals.
What is it?
The Japanese hair treatment is a special treatment, which can smooth out and straighten your hair. This process makes it really easy to take care of your hair because the effect will last for quite a long time.
Who should use it?
Anyone with frizzy hair that is difficult to tame will find that this treatment is very helpful. This also helps to reduce problems with humidity making your hair overly frizzy. The treatment also has the added benefit of making your hair much shinier and more radiant.
How long will the results last?
Once the hair has been treated, it will remain straight until it grows out and / or is cut off. New growth generally needs to be touched up anywhere from 4-6 months after. So, the amount of time that you can enjoy this treatment for will be between 4 to 6 months.
How long will it take?
The process will normally take a couple of hours to complete, although this could take longer if you have very long hair. A trained hairdresser will apply the solution according to the instructions included in the pack. Once the product is applied to the hair, you then need to wait around half an hour before it is washed out. It’s quite a pleasant process which most people will find relaxing and enjoyable.
The cost will depend on where you have it done, and how long your hair is. You will also have to buy some specialist shampoo, which is designed for use by people who have straightened their hair with this treatment. This will make sure your straight hair will last for longer.
No Dangerous Chemicals
One of the best things about using Japanese Keratin solutions is that they don’t have any strong chemicals inside. These don’t smell too bad while they are being applied although there is a slight odor. The smell will last for a couple of days, but it isn’t too bad and doesn’t smell like a strong chemical.
After you have had the treatment you then cant get your hair wet again for three days. You should also avoid sweating as this can reduce the benefits of the treatment. Take an umbrella everywhere you go, just in case. After the three days are up, then you can wash your hair and blow-dry it as normal.
* Yuko Yamashita is a Japanese hair expert who created this process in her home country in 1995, after which the method spread to other parts of the world.
